Hello beautiful people. Happy February!
This recipe and blog post is inspired by my friend Kate of Table For Kate. One of the unexpected things I’ve come to love about Wild Rye Baking is seeing the creative ways our customers use our products! I would have never thought to do this on my own, but now? I’m obsessed and inspired! These waffles are fun for breakfasts in bed or a playful, magical, and indulgent moment in the kitchen with your kids, and they happen to be idyllic for a certain love-themed holiday that's right around the corner!
It's a stretch to even call this a recipe, and I love that! I am here for wonderfully simple and delicious things. Our cake mix is doing the leg work here. All you have to do is prepare it according to the box instructions, but instead of baking you're going to cook the batter in a waffle maker!! I recommend making these waffles for dessert, for a galentines party, or for your freakin’ self just because! Whether you are gluten free, vegan, or a gluten lover, all of our pink velvet cake mixes will work beautifully here. I suggest unsweetened whipped cream. The pink velvet will bring a great amount of sweetness, and if you take a cue from Kate, a finishing drizzle of maple syrup will bring everything together.
Here’s how you make them:
- Preheat your waffle maker.
- Prepare your gluten free, vegan, or classic pink velvet cake batter according to box instructions.
- Whip some cream and slice some strawberries. (Any fruit will do here.)
- Cook some pink waffles!!
- Serve with unsweetened whipped cream, maple syrup, and fresh fruit.
If you’ve ever been tempted like Kate to think outside the box (yes, pun intended) with Wild Rye Baking Mixes, I encourage you to go for it! Think of our baking mixes as a starting point for your own creativity and expression in the kitchen. We’ve got the high quality ingredients and the science of baking covered so you can feel brave enough to play, create, and maybe even surprise yourself along the way!
